A stable baseline tells you what each later change actually does; starting from a custom scramble of settings tells you nothing. Move up one preset when things feel easy, down one when a crowded base or a rainstorm turns the game into a slideshow — weather and player structures are the real stress tests, not an empty beach.

Upscaling is the biggest single lever
Modern upscalers render the game at a lower internal resolution and reconstruct a sharp image, and ASA supports the major ones. Work down the quality modes until the framerate holds. Consoles and the settings you cannot touch
On Xbox and PlayStation the graphics ladder is mostly decided for you, which removes the tuning burden and the tuning options in one stroke. What remains in your control is the same triage from the top of this guide: server choice and connection. A wired connection over wireless, a server on your continent, and joining outside the evening rush hours do more for a console session than anything in a menu.
